In 1998 John was married and had two children

During the day John had been with the group of corporate guests who enjoyed some 10-pin bowling in the afternoon, before the evening kick-off at West Ham.

John was Chairman of Leeds United Women’s Team.

John’s daughter said her dad had suffered minor injuries escaping from the plane, a hurt knee and cracked head but added it was obviously nothing compared with what could have happened without the actions of the pilot.

As John says in this clip he wasn’t too keen on flying before the crash!

Thankfully, John did manage to fly again, albeit with some help from the doctor
